The Water Policy Center

The Water Policy Center(WPC) is an independent not-for-profit Think Tank established by the Venuganga Foundation in 2014 to present constructive policy proposals and scientific research on water and sustainable development. The WPC believes that the emerging water crisis across the world is a result of the lack of management, rather short rainfall. Therefore, effective management of water resources and constructive policy solutions are the need apart. The Water Policy Center is a trans-disciplinary cutting edge research centre combines policy and science to produce sustainable solutions to the water crisis. The centre is guided by an Advisory Board comprising members of national and international repute. The objective of the center is to explore research-based analysis and constructive solutions to the policy challenges in the thrust areas of the centre.

Thrust Areas

They are water governance; water and development; water, national security& geopolitics; water and poverty; water trade and economics; water-food-energy nexus; water and climate change; water, science, and technology. The centre is located in Marathwada, an underdeveloped region of Maharashtra state. Droughts and farmers' suicide are common phenomena here. The WPC emerged a significant policy think tank in such an environment.
