VGF-Water Policy Center organised a seminar on 25th May 2018 in collaboration with Mumbai School of Thoughts, Dept. of Political Science, Mumbai University, and NES Ratnam College, Mumbai. The seminar facilitated the exchange of knowledge, ideas for future collaboration between participants from South Africa and India. A delegation of Twenty CEOs and top executives from the transport industry of South Africa participated along with local 50 participants in the seminar.Mr.PravinDarade, IAS, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan RegionDevelopment Authority delivered the Key Note Address.Dr. Vishal Thombare, Assistant Engineer with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, and Professor PushpaTrivedi, Head, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai were eminent speakers. Dr. Vishal made a wonderful presentation on Investment opportunities in Mumbai Coastal Road Project, and Professor Trivedihighlighted on the Environmental cost of developmental projects.

Strengthening Constructive Partnership Among South Asian Countries

Even though South Asia is the greatest geopolitical hotspot, the geopolitical attentions and region of shared culture, South Asia countries have failed to integrate within the region and thus failed to push greater voice at the international level. The deepened intra-South Asian cooperation will provide SAARC countries greater role in shaping 21st-century world order.With this view, the VGF’s Water Policy Center and Mumbai School of Thoughts organised Meeting-cum-Interactive Sessionthat aims to bring experts and emerging scholars together from South Asian countries to strengthen and design constructive proposal to structural future cooperation among South Asian Countries. Over 20 delegates from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, India and Sri Lanka participated in the meeting.

Mr Bawaskar attended India Think Tank Forum organized by the University of Pennsylvania and ORF in New Delhi. The forum is an annual meeting of leaders and executives from top think tanks of India and abroad. Mr Bawaskar is attending the forum for three consequent years in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Study visit to South Africa

Our staff Mr.Bawaskar paid a visit to South Africa under the support by ICSSR visit abroad to grant to collect data for his doctoral research. During his visit interacted scholars and experts from the University of Witswarth, SAIIA both in Johannesburg and from University of Pretoria, UNISA, IGD, HSRC, NHRC and diplomats from Dept of International Relations in Pretoria.Experts he interacted in South Africa notably are, Prof. Gilbert Khadiagala, Prof. Sam Patric, Prof. DilipMenon (all from Wits), Mr. Cyril Prinsloo&Dr. Elizabeth (SAIIA), Prof. Kayane (HSRC), Prof. Netswera, Dr.Mathenlo (IGD), and Ms.NeliaBarnad (DIRCO). 8th BRICS Academic Forum, Goa 2016
